Capable of multi-Gigabit 2.5 Gbps speeds, Hitron’s new modems give cable operators a future-proof device for service plans over 1 Gbps
Centennial, CO – December 1, 2020 – Hitron Technologies, the fastest growing DOCSIS customer premise equipment (CPE) manufacturer in North America, today announced three new DOCSIS 3.1 modems all capable of transmitting 2.5 Gbps speeds. The CODA-57, EN2251-HSP and EN2251-RES are equipped with a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, enabling cable operators to deliver service plans over 1 Gbps.
The Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 3.1 implements new technologies which make it faster and have lower latency than previous generation DOCSIS standards. DOCSIS 3.1 supports download speeds up to 10 times faster than DOCSIS 3.0, delivering the multi-Gigabit speeds which were once only possible via fiber optic.
Hitron’s DOCSIS 3.1 2.5 Gbps modems enable cable operators to take advantage of the faster speeds and offer premium tier multi-Gigabit service plans using their existing HFC infrastructure. The modems are also compatible with DOCSIS 3.0 networks to give operators a future-proof platform that can be deployed in both DOCSIS 3.1 and 3.0 networks.
“With throughput speeds up to 2.5 Gbps, these modems provide cable subscribers with the world’s fastest cable broadband speeds for more advanced home networking. Families can simultaneously stream, game, work, learn, and more without any lag, hiccups or performance issues,” said Greg Fisher at President of Hitron Technologies Americas.
The CODA-57 and EN2251-HSP modems support a software-switchable upstream path (5-85 MHz or 5-204 MHz). The increased frequency range enables higher upstream bandwidth, which is increasingly important for demanding bi-directional applications like video conferencing, IoT and interactive services. Cable operators can deploy these modems with a lower upstream frequency today as they prepare their plants for higher upstream frequencies tomorrow.
Product highlights:
- Multi-Gigabit speeds with DOCSIS 3.1 and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port
- Fully backward compatible with 32×8 channel bonding DOCSIS 3.0
- Remotely manageable via Hitron ecosystem, SNMP and TR-069
- Software switchable return path (CODA-57 and EN2251-HSP)
- Supports two HD voice ports and external battery (EN2251-HSP and EN2251-RES)
